Posting by the fire

11.29.2007

I've been having a pretty relaxing week so far. I've been getting ready for Christmas.
We got our Christmas tree but haven't set it up yet. I still need to go shopping for presents, but there is always December 24th for that.

It has been getting pretty chilly here, so I've been staying inside by the nice warm fire.

I've added a new slideshow of past weddings to the site so be sure to check that out. keep checking back for more updates as Christmas gets closer.

Hope everyone is staying warm this winter.

Rainy Day

11.26.2007

It is a cold and rainy day here in MA. times like this I wish I lived in California.

So today I am just relaxing a bit and getting some work done. bring on the snow I'm ready.

Tis the season to be jolly

It's that time of year again, Christmas time. We just had our first snow fall last week and it was beautiful. I love watching the snow come down and blanket the ground. It's so peaceful and relaxing to watch.

I have been listening to a lot of Christmas music lately, it really relaxes me and puts me in the Christmas spirit. It reminds me of the wonderful memories I have of Christmas when I was a child. I know it might sound a little crazy to say but I could listen to Christmas music all year round, haha.

The meaning of Christmas. I think Linus for the peanuts said it best in A Charlie Brown Christmas when he said.

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'". That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie brown.

On Christmas Eve every year we have a candlelight service at my church. At the end of the services the whole church lights their candle and holds it up while singing silent night. This is what defines Christmas to me.

A day with Jay engagement session

11.25.2007

You've been working so hard and need a day to relax. A day with Jay is the latest addition to Jayson's Photography.

a day with Jay engagement session at Boston Billiards with Jaime & Jason who's wedding is scheduled for New Years Eve, it's going to be a blast.

adwj is a day to spend with each other and get away from your hectic life for a little while. It is also a way to get to know each other and to feel comfortable with me taking beautiful moments of you and your fiance together. We will spend the day together doing whatever you'd like. There is absolutely no posing involved but I might tell you to kiss and hold a few times, haha, Yea. So think about where you'd like to go. It might be the first place you met each other and we can recreate that first moment you caught each others eyes. I almost forgot to mention that the day is completely on me.

New Jayson's Photography Slideshow

Sustaining Passion

11.23.2007

I know that DJ has talked about this before. Sustaining passion in your job. Without passion we become bored and focus on the wrong things.

Every wedding I photograph is exciting. I look forward to them as if they were my own. I am passionate about my work with every job that God provides me with.

One thing that has allowed me to stay passionate about my business is Jessica Claire's Shootsac There was a time that I would show up to a wedding with my big camera bag on my back which caused me to become fatigue. I would shoot with two cameras instead of one. The Shootsac is a fashionable bag for my lenses which has allowed me to bring everything I need to a wedding and fits comfortably on my shoulder. What this bag has done has taken my focus off my cameras and put the focus back where it should be, the bride and groom. I still bring a camera bag with me to weddings which holds my backup camera, but I keep this in the back of the church and not on my back.

A lot of businesses start out by having passion but lose it a year later.

What is stopping you from having passion in your job?

Happy Friday

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and didn't eat to much. I ate way to much, I usually don't eat a lot during the holidays but everything tasted so good to just have a little.

Well today is the BIGGEST shopping day of the year and I'm staying home to recover from yesterday. Last year during this day I woke up at 4am and went to Best Buy and bought a Samsung LCD monitor after waiting in line for 3 hours, never again. I might head out later today and try to get some Christmas shopping done, only if the malls aren't packed.

Christmas is coming and I don't know what to get anyone. I need a list from people. Santa gets a list, why can't I. Do you think Santa has a computer and e-mail by now?
I'm not good at walking around the mall for hours not knowing what to get anyone. I think I will send out e-mails to everyone asking them 3 things they would like for Christmas, Yeah that is what I will do.

Well I leave you with this funny video Jaime sent me the other day. enjoy

Happy Friday everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving

11.22.2007

Happy Thanksgiving everybody. Today is a day to reflect and think about everything we are thankful for. What are you thankful for?

I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing day and gets to spend it with loved ones.

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet, I saw this video on Missy Carl's Blog and thought it was hilarious so I thought I would post it for everyone to see.

Funny Picture

11.16.2007
I wanted to share a funny picture I took while helping out with Young Life's Rediscover America Day. RAD is a photo scavenger hunt. This particular picture was titled most unusual place to sleep. We found this couch on the side of the road and used it for a quick picture. I mean a really quick picture, you can see the car coming in the distance. Don't worry it wasn't a busy highway.

Laughter and Life

I love to make people laugh but I also like to have a good chuckle. I just read that laughter adds 8 years to your life.

Tonight I am heading out to a stand up comedy show with Jaime to have a few laughs.

I have had the chance to see a few comics perform Tracy Morgan, Dane Cook and Bill Cosby. All of which were hilarious. I will bring a camera with me tonight and see if I can grab a few pics or some video clips. Have a great weekend everybody, remember to laugh.

Me and Dane Cook. I didn't know what face to make. this is my tough face. lol
I had my happy face on when I took a picture with this handsome man.

Thankful

11.14.2007

I'm just checking in with a quick post. Hope everyone had a nice weekend and is looking forward to spending time with family during this Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for?

The one thing I am thankful for is family. Over the holidays this is what I look forward to, seeing my brother and sisters. Everyone being together brings back warm childhood memories when we were together all the time. Now days I barely get to see them during the year because they live in other parts of the state. This is why I cherish every moment I get to spend with them.

By having such a close relationship with my family I feel it has aloud me to see the relationship between family members when I photograph weddings.

So today when you have a minute, think about what you are most thankful for.

Monday Morning

11.12.2007
It is a little chilly outside today but the sun is shinning so hopefully it won't be as cold as yesterday. Here are some more pics from yesterdays engagement session with Jaime and Jason.

Jaime & Jason

11.11.2007
Jaime and Jason are such a awesome couple and I had a blast hanging out with them today. We went to Boston Billiards and took some fun shots of them playing pool. Here is one that I really liked. I will post some more tomorrow when I'm rested.

Windy Weekend

11.10.2007

Today was a windy day in Massachusetts. I think tomorrow is going to be more of the same. Winter is coming and I hope you're all ready and have your winter jackets out, gloves on, and shovels equipped. I think it's about time I get a automatic car starter. Anyway today I had a fun little photo shoot with Jaime from Jaime's Photography. I took some pictures for her bio section of her new website. here are some fun pics from the day.
